Have you ever experienced the frustration of printing an Excel document, only to have it come out looking completely different than expected? If so, you’re not alone! Fortunately, this problem is easily solved with a few simple steps. This step-by-step guide will show you exactly how to print your Excel file on an A4 size.
Print A4 from Microsoft Excel: Step-by-Step Plan
1. Open the Excel sheet you want to print in A4 size.
2. Select the ‘Page Layout’ tab and click the small arrow in the lower right corner of the dialog box. The page settings will open.

3. In the ‘Page Setup’ dialog box, select the ‘Page’ tab.

4. If the sheet you want to print has a fixed number of columns and only gets longer, set the print to default to 1 page wide. You can do this by selecting the ‘Adjust Scale’ box under ‘Scale’. Then, enter ‘1’ in the first box to ensure that your Excel sheet prints 1 page wide.
If you leave the second box empty, Excel will calculate how many pages the length of your Excel worksheet should be divided into. If you want all the information to be on a single page, enter a ‘1’ in the second box. This will make sure the document will print on a page with the dimensions of the A-series. However, with this setting make sure that the content remains readable.

5. Press the ‘OK’ button at the bottom of the ‘Page Setup’ dialog box. Your Excel sheet is now set up to be printed on A4 paper.

This guide is applicable to Excel for Microsoft 365, Excel 2019, Excel 2016, and Excel 2013. Unfortunately, this function is not available in Excel for the web. With the desktop Excel application, this isn’t necessary. You can use the ‘open in Excel’ button to open the workbook via your Windows desktop app and then adjust the scale of the worksheet to fit the data on one page.
